In mid-September, 2014, CENN is organizing a five-day international workshop on the “Environmental and Social Implications of the Mining Sector in Georgia”.

The workshop aims at bringing together community-based and civil society organization representatives from the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions to enhance the capacity and awareness of participants regarding modern safeguard approaches in mining in developed countries. Information and knowledge gained during the workshop will help participants to work with local communities and the wider population on mining activities, which will contribute to promoting environmental and social accountability.

CENN welcomes applicants from civil society and community-based organizations from countries within the Black Sea and Caspian Sea regions, to bring visions from different perspectives and participate in a discussion on socio-economic development and related environmental challenges (focusing on the mining sector).
